Cheri L. Canon, MD, FACR, FSAR, FAAWR

Dr. Canon is professor and chair, and Witten-Stanley Endowed Chair, of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine (HSOM) and the Chief Clinical Officer for the UAB Medicine ambulatory practice. She sits on UAB Medicine Joint Operating Leadership Council, which is the senior leadership team for the health system and is a trustee on the board of the physician practice. 

Dr. Canon served as an oral examiner for the American Board of Radiology (ABR) for eleven years, a member of the Board of Trustees, and now sits on its Board of Governors as president-elect. She was the vice chair of the American College of Radiology (ACR), chancellor on the board, and the chair of the ACR Commission on Education. As a member of the ACR Radiology Leadership Institute, she helped launch a comprehensive leadership development program in partnership with the most recognized business schools. She is a fellow of the college and received the ACR Gold Medal in 2021, its highest honor. She received the Alabama Academy of Radiology’s Silver Medal in the spring of 2022. Dr. Canon is the immediate past-president of the Society of Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments (SCARD) and the co-creator and co-director of LEAD, a women’s leadership development program jointly developed by SCARD and GE Healthcare. Additionally, she sits on the boards of directors for the Association of University Radiologists, the Society of Abdominal Radiology, now serving as past president, and the Academy of Radiology Research Academic Council. She previously served on the leadership, including president and the executive board, for Momentum, a Birmingham women’s leadership organization. In recognition of her advocacy for women, she was recognized with the American Association of Women in Radiology Marie Sklodowska-Curie Award in 2020. In 2022, Dr. Canon was recognized by the University Of Texas Medical Branch John Sealy School of Medicine Alumni Association’s highest honor, the Ashbel Smith Distinguished Alumni Award.

Carolynn M. DeBenedectis, MD

Dr. DeBenedectis is a fellowship trained Women’s Imager who specializes in breast imaging in the radiology department at the University of Massachusetts Medical School/UMass Memorial Medical Center. Dr. DeBenedectis serves as the Director of the Radiology Residency Program and is the Vice Chair for Education. Dr. DeBenedectis research interests include teaching effective communication skills to radiologists, diversity and inclusion in Radiology,  and most recently health care disparities in Radiology.  She recently was as awarded the APDR Jerome Arndt Grant to develop a curriculum for teaching Radiologist about Health Care Disparities.  Dr DeBenedectis has served on numerous national Radiology committees most notably she is co-chair of the APDR Diversity Committee.

Ivan M DeQuesada II, MD

Dr. DeQuesada completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency and Neuroradiology fellowship at Emory University and is a partner at Radiology Associates of North Texas in Fort Worth, TX. He is currently medical director of the teleradiology division and was recently elected to the board of directors. His ACR involvement began in early training and has included service to the Georgia and Texas chapters in multiple positions and projects as well as a Rutherford-Lavanty Fellowship. He is currently on the CSC as chair of the YPS and was recently a TX councilor.

Gloria L. Hwang, MD

Dr. Hwang is a clinical professor of radiology at Stanford health Care, Stanford medicine Children’s Health. She specializes in interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology. Her other administrative appointments include the Associate Chair of Clinical Performance Improvement, Medical Informatics Director and Chair of Radiology IT Operations committee, and Associate Program Director for the Department of Radiology.
