On behalf of the ACR® Board of Chancellors (chaired by Alan H. Matsumoto, MD, MA, FACR), our dedicated members and the entire ACR staff, I am pleased to present our annual report for FY 2024. This past year, we provided our members with exceptional advocacy support, guidance in the safe implementation of exciting new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), and resources to help them adapt and thrive in our rapidly changing healthcare environment. Our focus on quality and safety in patient care has also been unwavering, and we have made significant strides in advancing these priorities.
Our advocacy efforts included grants to state chapters to combat scope of practice bills across the country, a successful effort to increase the 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor via the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, and (with the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American College of Emergency Physicians) support of legal actions by the Texas Medical Association to fight the flawed implementation of the No Surprises Act.
The ACR Data Science Institute® has grown to become a recognized leading resource for AI and machine learning. In June 2024, the College launched ARCH-AI, the first national AI quality assurance program for radiology facilities, aimed at supporting the safe and effective implementation of AI for better patient care.
The Radiology Leadership Institute® continues to offer unique training opportunities to equip radiologists at all stages of their careers with the leadership skills needed to advocate and guide our specialty into the future. The Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute® provides data-driven assessment of the key factors impacting radiology and healthcare delivery. The ACR Center for Research and Innovation™ in Philadelphia leads world-class NIH/NCI and vendor-supported research efforts in radiation oncology and diagnostic radiology, including the ALZ-NET and TMIST trials.
This past year has been a period of growth and achievement for our organization, and I want to express my sincere gratitude to our Board, more than 2,000 volunteers and dedicated ACR staff for their tireless efforts to make FY 2024 another successful year for the College. We are grateful for the continued support and dedication of our members, volunteers and staff. Together, we have made a significant impact on the field of radiology by serving as the voice of our members, empowering them to serve patients and society by advancing the practice and science of radiological care.
