Call To Action – Tell Congress to Prioritize Biomedical Research Funding in Fiscal Year 2025

This month lawmakers returned to Capitol Hill from Congress’ August recess. One of the most critical actions they must now take is to approve government funding for federal fiscal year (FY) 2025. To avoid a federal government shutdown, Congress has to pass funding legislation by Sept. 30.

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) asks members to take action now urging lawmakers to avoid a shutdown and fund the National Institutes of Health (NIH) FY 2025 base budget at the highest possible level. Members are encouraged to express to legislators how a loss of NIH funding would impact radiology research.

ACR joined on a coalition letter with more than 200 signors to the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations leadership expressing gratitude for championing a proposed $2 billion increase in NIH funding. The increase would encompass support for radiology and imaging research, including a wide range of diagnostics, treatments and therapeutics that benefit patients and their families.
