Act Now to Push Appropriate Funding For NIH

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) is advocating for increased funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the federal fiscal year 2025 budget. As part of that effort, the College requests members take action now by urging lawmakers to fund NIH at the highest possible level. Members are encouraged to express to lawmakers how inadequate NIH funding would negatively impact radiology research.

Lawmakers also are taking steps to promote the importance of medical research. U.S. Reps. Andre Carson (D-Ind.), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.), Lloyd Smucker (R-Pa.) and Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio) introduced a resolution that deemed last week (Sept. 16 – 20 as Medical Research Week. ACR, through its participation in the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research, partnered with congressional offices for this initiative. The resolution highlights the vital work of the medical research community in achieving better health outcomes for patients and their communities and notes the importance of strong federal annual funding for NIH.
