MRI can provide additional soft tissue detail and characterization of ovarian/adnexal lesions and is used as a secondary modality in the O-RADS risk stratification system. The O-RADS MRI lexicon and risk score incorporate terms supported in the literature to describe ovarian/adnexal lesions and assign a risk of malignancy.

MRI increases the specificity for the diagnosis of malignancy, due to its ability to detect enhancing solid tissue and can exclude malignancy when there is no enhancing solid tissue.

Learn how to incorporate O-RADS MRI in the evaluation of patients with adnexal lesions in clinical practice through the use of lexicon terms, imaging techniques and risk stratification system.
Viewers will become more familiar with O-RADS MRI and develop an approach to assess lesions in a stepwise algorithmic manner.

By incorporating O-RADS into clinical practice, clinicians can improve risk stratification of adnexal lesions and ensure appropriate patient management and outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe how to accurately characterize both fluid and solid components on MRI using T1-weighted with and without contrast, T2-weighted and diffusion-weighted imaging sequences.
  2. Identify technical requirements and the risk score categories in the O-RADS MRI risk stratification system.
  3. Develop an algorithmic approach to analyzing adnexal lesions on MRI based on their imaging appearance.

In order to successfully complete the activity, participants must complete an activity evaluation and claim credit commensurate with their participation in the activity.

O-RADS MRI: A Primer for Lesion CharacterizationEducation Activity

The O-RADS MRI education subcommittee has produced an enduring educational activity with aims to help learners recognize how to use the O-RADS MRI risk stratification system for adnexal lesion characterization in clinical practice. The activity has 6 different modules covering topics such as: the MRI Lexicon/Atlas, Risk Score Stratification, MRI Techniques, Diagnostic Pearls and Pitfalls, Reporting and Teaching Cases. At the end of some modules, you will be able to assess what you have learned in the provided knowledge checks and there is an opportunity to receive CME credits. In addition to the six e-learning modules, you will be able to access additional resources to O-RADS MRI, such as a dictation template and guide to using the O-RADS MRI calculator.

Learning Objectives

In order to successfully complete the activity, participants must engage in the learning activity, complete the post-test with a passing score of 80% or higher, a maximum of 3 attempts will be allowed. Upon successful completion of the post-test, participants must complete an activity evaluation and claim credit commensurate with their participation in the activity.
