Hospital lobbying groups and physicians are dissatisfied with the recent ruling by a Texas court saying that decisions under the No Surprises Act cannot be enforced. The No Surprises Act allows practices and health insurers to go to arbitration to settle an out-of-network payment dispute. Despite this, the Texas Court deemed there was no way to enforce an award from said arbitration, according to the Federation of American Hospitals.
The AMA believes the court’s ruling will have a big impact on underserved patient populations and those in specific geographic regions, particularly rural areas. The AMA spoke with a representative of an emergency physician group that serves a rural population; he fears his group will have to go through cost-saving moves such as reduced salaries, reduced staff and more.

The ACR has partnered with the American Cancer Society, the National Lung Cancer Roundtable, the Radiology Health Coalition, and the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer to encourage participation in National Lung Cancer Screening Day on Saturday, Nov. 9. National Lung Cancer Screening Day encourages facilities to open on the second Saturday in November to allow those who don’t have time during the week to come in for screenings.
National Lung Cancer Screening Day has the support of the President’s Cancer Panel, which encourages screening centers, hospital systems, clinicians, public health professionals, cancer coalitions and patient advocates to come together as a community to promote and communicate the value of lung cancer screening.
Sign your facility up today. For more information, please visit the National Lung Cancer Screening Day website.

The plant has resumed operations to some capacity, but it’s expected to take time to get back to full operations. The ACR is aware this will impact radiology practices and wants radiologists and their facilities to be prepared in case they are affected.
