Commission on Membership and Communications

The Commission on Membership and Communications strives to generate communication among ACR® members and the leadership of the College. The commission works for the ACR to be a key to resource for members, the media, general public, and the radiology and healthcare community on radiological issues. The commission also strives to increase its membership base by creating great value for ACR membership. It oversees important programs like the ACR fellowship program and represents important future constituencies including the residents, fellows and young physicians. Finally, the commission works with ACR chapters to provide seamless representation of the profession.

Commission Goals

  • Increase the number of members in the organization.
  • Ensure an effective communications strategy that is member-centric but also recognizes the many varied audiences that access information from the ACR.
  • Continue coordinated branding and marketing of the ACR, its members, and products and services to the radiology community, the media, payers and the public; implement marketing plans that deliver an appropriate ROI.
  • Maintain the ACR as a key resource for national and local media on radiological issues.
  • Continuously improve two-way communication with members.
  • Promote ACR as the leader in electronic interactions in radiology, including the web, teleconferencing and image transfer; keep the website regularly updated.
  • Ensure a fair and objective selection process for ACR Fellows and encourage members making a major contribution to the profession to seek ACR Fellowship status.
  • Provide information to prospective fellows on the selection process in order to close the expectations gap.
  • Establish mechanisms to encourage the sharing of knowledge among chapters and provide chapter leaders with access to their membership information.
  • Provide CME sponsorship for chapter meetings and work with the chapters to improve meeting attendance and value.
  • Establish a baseline of activities for all ACR chapters and assist chapters in meeting the baseline activities.
  • Work with the Resident and Fellow Section to ensure an outstanding introduction to the ACR and assist in addressing unique issues and challenges faced by members-in-training.
  • Establish a Young and Early Career Physician Section to address common issues for this constituency and ensure a proper transition into the fabric of the ACR and its chapters.
