Goldberg-Reeder Resident Travel Grant
Discover international volunteer service as a trainee
The ACR® Foundation Goldberg-Reeder Resident Travel Grant, sponsored by vRad’s First Read Initiative, awards grants each year to qualified radiology and radiation oncology residents and fellows seeking to spend at least one month assisting with healthcare in a developing country. The grant was created to further encourage international volunteer service among members-in-training.
Eligibility
The grant is restricted to radiology and radiation oncology residents and fellows. Awardees sign a waiver releasing the ACR of any liability or responsibility related to or in conjunction with their travel and stay.
Application Details
Submit applications using the online form no later than June 30. Two letters should accompany the application:
- A statement of intent by a sponsor, faculty or staff member of the healthcare organization abroad. Please include details about the goals of the visit in the letter.
- A statement of approval for participation and for time away from the applicant’s training program from the applicant’s program director (the director during the time of intended travel). Please include details about the goals of the visit in the letter.
Fellowship Requirements
The location must be a developing country, as defined by the World Bank, and travel should be confirmed (i.e., plane tickets purchased, itinerary set) by no later than December 31 of the same year. The time of dedicated service in improving healthcare in the developing country should be a minimum of one month.
Recipients will share photos of their experience, agree to be interviewed about their experience, and provide a report summarizing the impact of their visit. The summary should focus on what goals were met and/or what needs are still ongoing for the program at that institution.
