The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) recently joined the New York State Radiological Society (NYSRS) in opposing a bill (A.B. 6698/S. 6636) that would dramatically expand damages awardable in wrongful death actions and significantly increase medical liability insurance premiums throughout the state.
This bill passed both the House and Senate and awaits action by Gov. Kathy Hochul. The governor vetoed a similar bill last year and ACR, NYSRS and other physician organizations are again urging her to veto this legislation, which could threaten patient access to care.
ACR members in New York are encouraged use the American College of Radiology Association® Radiology Advocacy Network to send a message to Gov. Hochul asking that she veto the bill.
