The enrollment period is nearing for facilities that wish to participate in the 2022 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) as a virtual group. The enrollment period begins Oct. 1 for solo physicians and groups with 10 or fewer clinicians that wish to participate through this option. Please note that enrollment is required for virtual groups only and does not apply to traditional groups (for which no election process is required).
Other key dates and deadlines to note in the MIPS program for the 2021 and 2022 performance years include:
- Dec. 31: Virtual group election period for 2022 MIPS closes. This is also the final day to apply for either the Promoting Interoperability Hardship Exception or Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) category reweighting for 2021 MIPS.
- Jan. 3: Data submission period for the 2021 MIPS performance year begins.
- March 31: Data submission period for 2021 MIPS closes.
