McGinty, MD, MBA, FACR, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Contracting Officer for the Weill Cornell Physician Organization and current chair of the American College of Radiology’s Board of Chancellors, shares her journey from medical school in Ireland, residency at the University of Pittsburgh and the leadership opportunity at Montefiore Medical Center that put her on her leadership path. Along the way she talks about what led her to pursue an MBA, the importance of developing a strong network, her mission to make radiology more inclusive, her mindful approach to setting priorities and her vision for the ACR.

About Geraldine McGinty, MD, MBA, FACR

Geraldine McGinty, MD, MBA, FACR, serves as chief contracting and strategy officer and assistant professor of radiology and health care policy and research at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York. She is also an assistant attending radiologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She is an internationally recognized expert in imaging economics. She has served an advisor to the CPT Editorial Panel, the JCAHO and the National Quality Forum. She was Chair of the American College of Radiology's Commission on Economics and was the radiology member of the AMA’s Relative Value Update Committee from 2012-2016. In May 2018 she was elected as the Chair of the ACR's Board of Chancellors, the first woman to hold this office.

Did you know?

Dr. McGinty has been married for 31 years. She loves spending time wandering New York City. She adores fashion and history, and enjoys reading about both topics. Dr. McGinty enjoys traveling and will never turn down a trip to Paris. Prior to going into radiology, she considered surgery but loved the intersection of technology and patient care in radiology as well as the problem solving aspect of the specialty. If Dr. McGinty could only have one drink ever it would be....coffee! Her love of coffee is so strong that she once bought a Nespresso machine for the staff office at an RSNA meeting!
