Cury, MD, FACR, FAHA, FSCCT, FACC, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Radiology Associates of South Florida in Miami and the Chief Medical Officer of Mednax Radiology Solutions discusses his journey from medical school in Brazil to his current role where he is responsible for leading over 800 radiologists. He talks about what led to his first leadership position at MGH, how he navigated successive leadership roles and what resources he turned to while taking on more administrative roles including his decision to pursue an MBA. You’ll hear why a keen focus on strategy and culture are critical to ensuring physician alignment and adding value to the healthcare system and get a first-hand account of the considerations around the decision to pursue acquisition by Mednax and the steps taken to ensure a successful transition for all parties.

About Ricardo C. Cury, MD, FACR

Dr. Ricardo Cury has been the Chairman and CEO of Radiology Associates of South Florida for the past 8 years and Director of Cardiac Imaging at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute for the past 11 years. He is also Chief Medical Officer of Mednax Radiology Solutions and Clinical Professor and Chairman of Radiology at Florida International University, Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Cury was former Director of Cardiac MRI at Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School, in Boston. He is a past-president of the Society of Cardiovascular CT for the term 2014-2015.

Did you know?

Dr. Cury has been married for 17 years and has two children. For fun, he enjoys stand-up paddle boarding, boating, playing tennis, cycling, and traveling. While Europe is a favorite destination, he’s recently taken more adventurous trips to the Amazon jungle and Costa Rica!

Prior to going into radiology, Dr. Cury considered careers as a pilot, tour guide, businessman, and as a diplomat before ultimately settling on medicine. In the end, he was fascinated by the technology and problem solving aspects of diagnostic imaging.
