Welcome to the American College of Radiology® (ACR®) annual report for fiscal year 2021 (FY 2021), July 1, 2020–June 30, 2021
Welcome to the American College of Radiology® (ACR®) annual report for fiscal year 2021 (FY 2021), July 1, 2020–June 30, 2021
I am pleased to present to you this year’s ACR annual report. The ACR had a very successful year in 2021, empowering over 40,000 members to advance the practice, science and professions of radiological care while continuing to innovate and develop new programs (per our Core Purpose). The ACR Board of Chancellors — assisted by the nearly 2,000 volunteers on committees, commissions and task forces as well as nearly 600 dedicated staff — remained focused on implementing policies created by the ACR Council.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began in February 2020, we never imagined it would continue for so long. Starting mid-March that year, all ACR staff began working remotely, never missing a beat in support of our existing programs and new initiatives on many fronts.
To conduct the business of the ACR Council, we converted the 2021 ACR Annual Meeting into a very successful virtual program. The ACR also led its face-to-face educational programs, including offerings from the AIRP® and ACR Education Center, in a virtual format throughout the year.
ACR websites and other communications continued to present information and guidance to member practices and departments. A series of ACR webinars provided exceptional educational experiences, including presentations from the Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR®), the Radiology Leadership Institute® (RLI) and several ACR commissions. In addition, the Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute®, under the leadership of Executive Director Elizabeth Rula, PhD, expanded its programs and continued to deliver invaluable health policy research.
All of these successes — and others as described in this report — were accomplished while maintaining our focus on serving the membership and nurturing our relationships throughout the radiology and medical communities.
I want to thank everyone, from our Board leadership to all our volunteers and remarkably committed and talented staff, for their consistent efforts resulting in such a successful year. We look forward to releasing the new ACR Strategic Plan in FY2022.
Please take a few minutes to read this FY2021 annual report, which outlines in significant detail our very strong financial position and the value that the ACR provides to members, our professions and — most importantly — to the patients and populations we serve.
