Resources & Services for ACR Chapters

Access valuable resources to support chapter management and membership efforts.

Chapter Portal

The ACR developed the Chapter Portal to facilitate communication between the College and its chapters, to expedite the work of chapter leaders and to ease communications among the chapters. Those with access can download chapter membership data, access resources from the College, start and participate in discussions via a discussion board accessible by all users, email chapter leaders in other states, email chapter members, and more.

Access to the Chapter Portal is granted for the duration of the chapter officer, executive staff, councilor, alternate councilor and membership chair’s terms. Users may access the Chapter Portal using their acr.org single user sign-on credentials. View the Chapter Portal Instructions for guidance.

Chapter Leader Education

Chapter Leaders Workshop  The Chapter Leaders Workshop at the ACR Annual Meeting is an opportunity to network with peers and discuss common relevant issues as well as discover new and innovative ways to grow and serve your chapter membership.

ACR Chapters & Sections staff are available to assist you with any questions about your leadership role. For further information, contact Catherine Jones at 800-227-5462, ext. 5480.

Membership Reports and Rosters

Through the ACR membership database, the membership services department offers a series of reports to assist chapters in maintaining an accurate membership database and to support chapter member retention efforts. Your chapter information is available to you via the Chapter Portal. You can access a variety of rosters, including an officer roster and rosters by practice and specialty. Member report questions may be directed to Deanna Rooths, 703-648-8985.

Member Contact Information

Mailing and email addresses included with your chapter reports in the Chapter Portal can be downloaded and used to communicate with your members. The information available is limited to your own membership and may be used solely for conducting chapter business.

Membership Dues Billing

The ACR dues billing service allows chapters to take advantage of ACR resources for preparing and distributing invoices, dues collection and record keeping. The College charges a modest fee for this service. Please contact Deanna Rooths, 703-648-8985 with questions.

Legal Assistance

The ACR Legal Department is available to provide general information on a variety of issues to ACR members and their attorneys. Chapter leaders may turn to the ACR Legal Department for:

  • Referrals to local attorneys
  • General questions about nonprofit organization and incorporation
  • General questions about bylaws
  • General questions about antitrust issues and other corporate matters

State Legislative Services

The ACR state government relations program addresses legislative and regulatory trends across the country and assists chapters with specific state legislative and regulatory initiatives and strategies. The College assumes the expenses for one visitor, per chapter, per year. To use this service, submit a speaker request form and provide complete details for your chapter meeting. For additional information contact Britney Lindgren at chapters@acr.org.

Recognition Through the Chapter Recognition Awards Program

The ACR Chapter Recognition Program facilitates the sharing of ideas among chapters and recognizes chapter successes and innovative ideas. For additional information, contact the Chapters and Sections team at chapters@acr.org.

Chapter Meeting Announcements

The ACR can promote your chapter meeting information on the meeting calendar. When space is available and ample notice provided, the College may also list meetings in print or electronic publications (e.g., ACR Bulletin or ACR Member Update). To submit a meeting announcement, please contact  chapters@acr.org at 703-715-4385.

Chapter Executive Update

This e-newsletter is distributed by ACR staff to chapter leaders and executive staff in order to provide information about new chapter resources, chapter-related news and pertinent activities. For additional information contact Britney Lindgren or call 703-715-4385.

Annual Meeting Stipends for Medical Students, Residents, Fellows and Young Professionals

The ACR provides up to $3,000 to chapters to help send medical students, residents and fellows to the ACR Annual Meeting and $1,000 for a young professional to attend the meeting as an alternate councilor. The ACR will send the stipend funds to the chapter after the annual meeting. To designate a Young Professional Alternate Councilor (YPAC), please contact Britney Lindgren at 703-715-4385 or chapters@acr.org

Guidance Regarding Council Activities

The ACR website includes resources and orientation materials to provide guidance on ACR Council activities, including a handbook for councilors and alternates, a resolution template, a how-to document for writing resolutions, and Council policies and procedures. If your chapter needs to designate a substitute councilor, please contact Britney Lindgren. Staff is also available to answer questions by phone or e-mail (see contacts below). Your most important resource for guidance on Council activities is your chapter’s Council Steering Committee (CSC) liaison identified on your chapter officer roster. Your CSC liaison is your connection to the governance body that represents the Council between annual meetings.
