ACR Centennial Celebration
ACR is celebrating a major milestone — a century of quality, integrity, leadership and innovation. Our 100th anniversary, from March 2023 to March 2024, gives us an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the world-changing achievements and contributions realized by ACR members during our Centennial year celebration. The College commends the lifesaving impact our members have had on radiology, patient care and society.
Looking to the future, the ACR member leadership, volunteers and staff are working together to bring about the next century of innovation and to advance medical care. Check out thought leadership on the future of the profession and what ACR has in store.
We’ve Come a Long Way Baby
“Much has changed since 1923, when 20 radiologists created the ACR even before radiology was officially endorsed as a specialty by the American Medical Association,” said William T. Thorwarth Jr., MD, FACR, ACR Chief Executive Officer. “Since the early years, what has not changed is our commitment to advance the practice and support improved health equity, quality, delivery and outcomes for patients.”
“The ACR has been at the heart of myriad innovations that have helped improve patient care,” said Jim Borgstede, MD, FACR, Co-Chair of the ACR Centennial Steering Committee. “We hope you join us in celebrating our rich history and engage in our plans for a robust future.”
“Mahatma Gandhi said, ‘A small body of determined spirits, fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission, can alter the course of history.’ We would not be here today without the passion and commitment of those who came before us,” said Catherine Everett, MD, MBA, FACR, Co-Chair of the ACR Centennial Steering Committee. “The Centennial is an opportunity to celebrate our achievements and how far we have come.”
ACR will continue to advocate for the profession for the next 100 years. See below for recent articles, podcasts and webinars exploring what that future might look like and the challenges we face.
