President Biden signed House Resolution (H.R.) 1868 into law April 14 that extends the current moratorium halting the 2% cuts in Medicare payments due to sequestration until the end of 2021. Sequestration is across-the-board statutory Medicare reductions. The U.S. House of Representatives voted in favor of the bill April 13; the Senate previously passed H.R. 1868.
CMS directed Medicare Administrative Contractors to release any previously held claims with dates of service on or after April 1, and reprocess any claims paid with the reduction applied. More information is available on the CMS website.
The American College of Radiology® joined with many of our colleagues in supporting this legislation and will continue to work to ensure physicians have as much support as possible as they continue to navigate the COVID-19 public health emergency.
