Across the country, we have all witnessed variable compliance with recommendations and requirements to wear masks when out in public — despite data that shows wearing a mask can help save lives. According to the CDC, if everyone wears a mask over the next 4–8 weeks, we could drastically reduce cases of COVID-19.
The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) fully supports the American Medical Association’s (AMA’s)new public health campaign called #MaskUp. As physician leaders, we can set an example and help people understand their risks for transmission through clear and simple communication, rooted in science.
To raise public awareness, the ACR is encouraging members to share photos and selfies wearing a mask on social media. Please be sure to tag @RadiologyACR @AmerMedicalAssn and #MaskUp in your post.
In the first 24 hours, dozens of ACR members shared their images and reasons for wearing a mask, and we look forward to continuing this momentum in the weeks to come.
