Three state radiological societies have been awarded grants from The American College of Radiology Association® (ACRA®) announced three state radiological societies awarded grants from the 2023 Scope of Practice (SOP) fund. The Michigan Radiological Society, the Texas Radiological Society and the Radiological Society of New Jersey are the first societies to be awarded SOP grants in 2023; other grants may be awarded through emergency consideration if a need arises.
The SOP fund was established in 2021 by the ACRA to safeguard patients and patient access to radiologist expertise by fighting state and federal non-physician SOP expansion legislation. Non-physician provider groups continually seek expanded authority by introducing legislation that would, for example, reduce radiologist oversight and enable direct billing.
