The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Position Statement on Remote Scanning includes high-level principles that form the basis for more-specific ACR guidance to come. The ACR encourages radiology professionals to submit comments on this statement by Dec. 13.
The ACR supports remote scanning use if conducted in a manner that promotes patient safety, imaging quality, and personnel development. Modern CT and MRI scanners can be operated remotely. When used appropriately, remote scanning can expand the reach of skilled technologists, which may benefit rural and underserved areas. Yet, without safeguards, the technology could negatively impact patient care.
The ACR values member and radiology professional feedback. Please click here to submit comments by Dec. 13.
