The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) has updated its impact tables that illustrate how the 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) final rule affects specific radiology-related tests and procedures. The final payment rates reflect the 2.5% increase to the conversion factor that Congress passed as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023.
The tables cover specific changes in reimbursement rates between 2022 and 2023 for each Current Procedural Terminology® (CPT®) code. The analysis includes spreadsheets for the 70,000 series CPT codes and the non-70,000 CPT codes billed by radiologists, interventional radiologists and/or radiation oncologists.
The final conversion factor for 2023 is $33.8872, a decrease of just over 2% from the 2022 conversion factor. If Congress had not passed the 2.5% increase, the 2023 conversion factor would have been reduced by 4.47% from 2022 to 2023.
Questions about the MPFS final rule impacts should be directed to Katie Keysor, ACR Senior Director of Economic Policy.
