New GME Funding Available For Freestanding Children's Teaching Hospitals

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) released a new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for graduate medical education (GME) for freestanding children’s teaching hospitals to improve access to quality health services. The Children's Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) Payment Program provides funding to these hospitals to train pediatric and other residents in GME programs to provide balance in the level of federal funding.

HRSA will award approximately $366 million to up to 59 grantees over a period of one year through this funding opportunity. Eligible hospitals include freestanding children’s hospitals with inpatients predominantly under 18 years of age, that participate in an approved GME program, and that have a Medicare payment agreement.

Additional information can be found on HRSA’s website.
