Last week Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb signed truth-in-advertising legislation into law. Senate Bill (SB) 239 mandates increased transparency in healthcare provider identification and advertising.
Beginning Jan. 1, disciplinary sanctions can be brought if a practitioner publicly communicates or disseminates an advertisement that includes deceptive or misleading information or does not prominently state the profession or license held by the practitioner. This mandates inclusion of terms or other specified words that help identify a member of a medical specialty with an individual's name.
The Indiana Radiological Society supported SB 239.
