The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is accepting requests for nominations to the Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC) until March 28. Terms end for 23 members in June — three patient advocates and 20 members at large. MEDCAC members are selected based upon their individual qualifications and not solely as representatives of professional associations or societies. View the current MEDCAC roster.
MEDCAC provides independent guidance and expert advice to CMS on specific clinical topics, reviews and evaluates medical literature and technology assessments, and hears public testimony on the impact of medical items and services on health outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries.
American College of Radiology® (ACR®) members who are current or past members of MEDCAC include Cecelia C. Brewington, MD (UT Southwestern Medical Center), Ron Blankstein, MD, FACC (Harvard Medical School), Sammy Chu, MD, FACR (Univ. of Washington and Univ. of British Columbia), Najeeb Mohideen, MD, FASTRO (Radiation Oncology Associates at Northwest Community Hospital), Ammar Sarwar, MB, BS (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center), Ella Kazerooni, MD, MS (University of Michigan Health System), and Laeton J. Pang, MD, MPH, FACR, FACRO (Cancer Center of Hawaii).
