Mahadevappa Mahesh, MS, PhD, FACR, Chair of the American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Medical Physics Commission, presented an overview of current ACR programs at the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD) annual conference in Tucson, AZ, last week. CRCPD is made up of state regulators from radiation control programs across the nation.
Additionally, Dustin Gress, MS, ACR Senior Advisor for Medical Physics, provided an overview of policy and regulatory responses to new Patient and Gonadal Shielding Recommendations. Many state regulatory programs have made changes to their shielding recommendations following National Council on Radiation Protection Statement No. 13 — Recommendations For Ending Routine Gonadal Shielding During Abdominal And Pelvic Radiography (2021). The ACR and CRCPD collaborated on a survey and were able to obtain results from 42 states.
