The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released Change Request (CR) 13391, which contains International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) coding revisions to various National Coverage Determinations (NCD). Modifications include NCDs relevant to radiology:
- NCD 150.3 Bone Mass Measurements. Medicare administrative contractors (MACs) are instructed to add ICD-10 diagnosis codes M80.0B1A, M80.0B2A, M80.8B1A, and M80.8B2A.
- NCD 220.4 Mammograms. MACs are instructed to add ICD-10 diagnosis codes for mammographic density found on imaging of breast: R92.30, R92.311, R92.312, R92.313, R92.321, R92.322, R92.323, R92.331, R92.332, R92.333, R92.341, R92.342 and R92.343.
- NCD 220.6.17 Positron Emission Tomography (FDG) for Oncologic Conditions. CMS instructs MACs to end-date ICD-10 diagnosis code D48.1 and add ICD-10 diagnosis codes D48.19, Other specified neoplasm of uncertain behavior of connective and other soft tissue.
