The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) recently circulated two American Medical Association/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) surveys to a random selection of ACR members for the code families:
- Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (two existing CPT codes, one new CPT® code).
- Percutaneous Arteriovenous Fistula Creation (two new CPT codes).
Survey data will be aggregated, analyzed and presented at the Jan. 2022 RUC meeting. Values approved by the RUC Panel will be communicated to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for assessment and final valuation in the 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
These surveys involve collaboration with several societies, including the Society of Interventional Radiology, American Academy of Neurology, Society for Vascular Surgery, Renal Physicians Society, American College of Rheumatology, American Podiatric Medical Association and American Academy of Physician Medicine and Rehabilitation. ACR members may receive a survey from the College and one of these other societies for the same procedure. If this occurs, only one survey should be completed.
Members who were selected for the survey are asked to submit their completed survey due to the brief survey cycle. Optimal participation from ACR members is necessary to provide CMS with accurate physician work and time recommendations. Your engagement in these efforts is appreciated.
If you have questions or for more information, email Christy Buranaamorn, ACR RUC staff member, or call 1-800-227-5463, ext. 5653.
