ACR Releases Preliminary Summary of Radiology Provisions in 2022 HOPPS Final Rule

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the calendar year 2022 Medicare Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (HOPPS) and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) final rule Nov. 2. The American College of Radiology® has created an initial review of provisions within the HOPPS final rule that may impact radiology or radiation oncology. Among other things, CMS will increase the Medicare reimbursement rate for lung cancer screening services performed in the hospital outpatient setting by 37%.
