The Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act of 2021 (H.R. 3173), legislation supported by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®) and other members of the House of Medicine, has garnered 227 cosponsors, more than half of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Introduced by U.S. Reps. Susan DelBene (D-WA) and Mike Kelly (R-PA), H.R. 3173 would accelerate the prior authorization process that Medicare Advantage plans use to approve certain treatments and tests. The bill also would require the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to establish standard procedures to speed up decision making for certain services that are routinely approved.
The ACR continues to urge passage of the bill into law. For more information or if you have questions, contact Rebecca Spangler, Director of ACR Government Relations.
