More than 200 members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter to House leadership urging action on Medicare payment reform prior to the end of 2024.
Led by Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, MD (R-IA), and Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), the letter raises concerns that Medicare payment reductions will impact patient care, particularly in rural and underserved areas, and further contribute to clinician burnout, which is already straining the healthcare workforce.
The representatives emphasized the need for permanent reform, as well as Congressional action to stop the impending 2.8% reduction to the Medicare conversion factor included in the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule and provide clinicians with a payment update reflective of inflationary pressures.
