The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) is asking members to contact their U.S. representative to urge them to co-sponsor the Find It Early Act (H.R. 3086). Introduced by U.S. Reps. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-3) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-1), the bill intends to improve early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer, the stage when it is most treatable. It would guarantee insurance coverage for supplemental breast imaging at no cost to the patient.
Insurance coverage for supplemental screening tests is inconsistent across states and insurers, leaving many women with out-of-pocket costs and possible delays in care. The Find It Early Act would close these gaps and ensure all insurance programs — including private plans, TRICARE and VHA — cover the necessary follow-up imaging.
