The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) state government relations team recently hosted a 2022 State Legislative Wrap-Up webinar that covered radiology-related topics debated in the statehouses, as well as trends seen and expected. The webinar attendees — radiologists and state radiological chapter leaders from across the country — heard from ACR Senior Government Affairs Director Eugenia Brandt, ACR Senior State Government Relations Specialist Dillon Harp and ACR Public Affairs Specialist Carly Simpson.
Brandt highlighted legislative tracking tools ACR offers state radiological chapters and why the need for consistent advocacy throughout the entire legislative process is vital. She also recapped noteworthy breast health, out-of-network and prior authorization activity during the 2022 legislative cycle.
Harp spoke about scope of practice activity and encouraged state radiological chapters that are battling scope expansion issues to apply for an American College of Radiology Association® Scope of Practice grant. He also discussed a new initiative, Resident Advocacy 101, a presentation that promotes the importance of advocating for patients and the profession. ACR Government Affairs makes the presentation available to all residency programs.
Simpson spoke about the resources that ACR Public Affairs offers and coached attendees on how to handle media requests, including dos and don’ts during an interview.
The ACR State Government Relations Team would also like to thank all the volunteer advocates across the country; your hard work and dedication truly make a difference on the advocacy and public policy front!
The slides to this webinar and other state advocacy resources, including ACR’s state legislative tracking tool, are available on the College’s state affairs page. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Eugenia Brandt, Dillon Harp, or Carly Simpson.
