Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) are seeking comments on the proposed local coverage determination (LCD) for Sacroiliac Joint Injections and Procedures. Physicians and subject matter experts (SMEs) have an opportunity to review the proposed LCD and submit comments to improve the clinical indications section and related ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes. The proposed policies are being released as follow up to a Multi-Jurisdictional Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting held March 10.
MACs allow 45 days for the medical community to provide oral and/or written comments through open meetings and the public comment period. Interested parties (generally those that would be affected by the LCD, including providers, physicians, vendors, manufacturers, beneficiaries, caregivers, etc.) can make informational presentations and submit written comments related to the proposed LCD. All comments will be considered by the MAC before the LCD is finalized.
