The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently sent out a revision to the Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) National Coverage Determination (150.3) Effective October 1, 2015, CMS implemented a change to the Bone Mass Measurement NCD (See MLN Matters SE 1525) that will cover the ICD-10 subcategory condition of Osteopenia (M85.8-). In addition to the current CR9252 list, providers may report ICD-10 codes within the Osteopenia subcategory as covered indications.
