How do you lead in times of crisis? In the face of unprecedented health, social and economic turmoil, leaders can be a source of guidance and a beacon of hope for their colleagues, teams and organizations. In the case of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we are all facing an uncertain journey, but we have a unique opportunity here to step up as leaders and help our communities move forward.
Unfortunately, crises rarely give us much advanced notice. And so with COVID-19. Among the many issues has been prioritizing the safety and security of our staff. Getting the proper equipment. Listening to their concerns. Understanding their fears and frustrations. Responding to their practical and psychosocial needs.
Though we are all separated throughout this pandemic, we still have access to countless tools that can equip us with strategies to help our practices move forward. The Radiology Leadership Institute (RLI) is hosting a virtual RLI Leadership Town Hall next week, where radiology leaders from various COVID-19 hotspots – including New York City, New Orleans, and Seattle – will come together to share and discuss such strategies and tools.
I invite you to join me for the RLI Leadership Town Hall: Leading in Times of Crisis on Thursday, April 16 from 7 to 8:30pm ET. Moderators Frank J. Lexa, MD, MBA, FACR, and Geoff Rubin, MD, MBA, FACR, will speak with a series of panelists who will share their perspectives on what’s happening on the ground in their locations and their strategies for coping.
I also encourage you to take advantage of the American College of Radiology COVID-19 Radiology Leadership Resources, a curated collection of tools to help radiology leaders guide their practices, departments and institutions through this unparalleled national health hazard.
Leadership in radiology is more important than ever, and together, we will continue to influence the future of health care.
