Candice A. Johnstone, MD, FACR, former American College of Radiology® (ACR®) College Nominating Committee (CNC) member and current Chair of the Committee on Practice Parameters, Commission on General, Small, Emergency and/or Rural Practice, contributed this post.

The 2021 ACR CNC Call for Nominations is now underway. Occurring annually, this call offers ACR members an opportunity to play a key role in leadership and governance through several avenues including positions on the Board of Chancellors, Council Steering Committee, CNC and more. Your participation and representation will empower you to make your voice — and your fellow members’ voices — heard and will offer you an opportunity to directly impact the future of the ACR.

Past members of the CNC were instrumental in my decision to run for office. In particular, former CNC Chair and current President of the Council of Affiliated Regional Radiation Oncology Societies, Join Luh, MD, FACR, personally encouraged me to run for office at a key moment when I was wavering. My experience on the CNC was invaluable, and I was able to help advance the mission of the ACR by encouraging talented nominees to run for office and by vetting applications. I encourage anyone with an interest in leadership to consider applying for an open position.

Learn more and submit your completed application, along with other required materials, by Wednesday, Dec. 8.
