Richard Duszak Jr., MD, FACR, Chair of the American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Commission on Leadership and Practice Development, and Frank J. Lexa, MD, MBA, FACR, Chief Medical Officer of the ACR Radiology Leadership Institute® (RLI), contributed this post.
Leadership is about building, sustaining and enabling teams. Great leaders not only mentor and sponsor rising leaders, they also support and recognize the accomplishments of current and past leaders. The RLI has, to-date, educated and trained over 9,000 radiologists and remains committed as an organization to espousing the values that it teaches.
As the RLI celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year, we’re launching three awards to recognize and promote leadership at all radiology professional career levels:
- The RLI Emerging Leader Award provides travel and scholarship support for residents and fellows to attend the annual RLI Leadership Summit. Our members-in-training are our future. These are the individuals who will lead us into and in the future, and we are committed to their professional leadership development.
- The RLI Impact in Leadership Award recognizes radiologists and other ACR members who effectively, innovatively and impactfully use leadership and business skills acquired through RLI activities to enhance their practice or department. These are the leaders of today, who are moving our practices and our specialty forward, who we seek to celebrate as peer role models for radiology leaders across the country.
- The RLI Leadership Luminary Award honors ACR members who support the goals of RLI and have paved the way with a lifetime of leadership achievements to their practices or departments, their communities, the profession, and more broadly, to society. These are the leaders of both the past and present who serve as exemplars for the radiology community.
We encourage you to apply and/or nominate leaders for these important awards before the Friday, Feb. 28 deadline. Winners of each of these awards will be announced during the 2022 ACR Annual Meeting. Visit acr.org/RLIawards for more information.
This is a chance to be recognized for your contributions and to recognize others for their impact on our specialty. Join us as we honor and enhance the radiology leadership community.
