The Medical Student Section (MSS) Steering Committee (SC) leads the MSS throughout the year to develop resources for medical students and provides input to the Commission on Membership and Communications on issues related to membership retention and medical student outreach.
The MSS SC is comprised of appointed members approved by the Chair, Commission on Membership and Communications. The MSS Steering Committee includes the following officers: chair, vice chair, immediate past chair, resident advisor, secretary, and five team leads (communications, diversity, equity, and inclusion, education, health innovation and technology, humanities and bioethics). The Steering Committee meets regularly (at a minimum quarterly) to make programming decisions in accordance with the ACR Strategic Plan. The presiding officer is the chairperson of the Steering Committee.
The incoming Chair of the MSS will be selected by the current Chair of the MSS in consultation with the Chair, Commission on Membership and Communications. Eligibility requirement for Chair position: Prior service on the ACR MSS Steering Committee is required.
Incoming Steering Committee members will be selected by the Chair and Chair Elect with final approval by the Chair, Commission on Membership and Communications. Applications are due by mid-March. Eligibility requirements: Vice Chair – prior service on the ACR MSS Steering Committee is required. All other positions - prior service on an ACR MSS Subcommittee is preferred.
Interested members must submit a 2024 MS Section Steering Committee Application, that includes a brief paragraph of intent (no more than 100 words), prior ACR involvement, awards/honors, state chapter activity by midnight on March 11, 2024.
