Through an award from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation's Diagnostic Excellence Initiative, an ACR® technical expert panel (TEP) is developing quality measures to assess recommended follow up of incidental findings on imaging exams.
Development of the Closing the Results Follow-Up Loop Measure Set continues thanks to the input from the multistakeholder TEP and the results of two Closing the Loop Stakeholder Surveys. View the survey results for the physicians and other healthcare professionals’ survey and for the patients’ survey. A third survey is planned to gather input from health information technology (HIT) vendors and informatics experts.
The survey results supplement the panel’s expertise and augment the evidence cited in the project’s environmental scan by informing on communication and follow-up preferences and current protocols in routine clinical practice.
A 30-day comment period in October 2020 will provide the public with the opportunity to view and provide feedback on the draft set of measures. The measures will then undergo testing by facilities that use the National Radiology Data Registry (NRDR®).
If you’re interested in learning more about the project, participating in the HIT vendor survey, signing up to be a measure testing site or accessing the comment portal this fall, visit the Closing the Loop project webpage.
