Episode 31: James P. Borgstede, MD, FACR
Leading with Impact
February 18, 2021
Join us for an inspirational conversation with James P. Borgstede, MD, FACR, professor and vice chairman of radiology at the University of Colorado, as he shares his remarkable journey from paperboy in Edwardsville, IL (which financed the purchase of an engagement ring!) to his impressive distinction as being the only person to have served as past president of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), the International Society of Radiology (ISR), the American College of Radiology (ACR), the American Board of Radiology (ABR), the Colorado Physician Health Program and the Colorado State Board of Medical Examiners.
In this episode, he shares how he found balance early in his career while leading a private practice while rising through the ranks in his academic role at the University of Colorado, what led him to pursue an MRI fellowship at the University of San Diego after 28 years in practice, and his approach to managing a team (hint: seek diverse perspectives.)
The conversation explores how his remarkably diverse and impactful slate of leadership roles within the field of radiology evolved out of a sense of responsibility, the important role mentors have played in his career, what drives him to be an enthusiastic supporter of international radiology and how he led with tremendous flexibility and innovation to deliver the 2020 RSNA meeting entirely virtually.
You won’t want to miss this very special episode.
