Jim Rawson and Bill Thorwarth as they talk about basic principles of preparing for and responding to crises, and communicating across organizations to share best practices.

James V. Rawson, MD, FACR

He graduated Tufts Medical School is 1989. After an Internship at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, he completed his Radiology Residency at New York Medical College in 1994. Dr. Rawson completed his training at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University with a fellowship in Body MRI. Dr. Rawson served as Chair of the Department of Radiology and Imaging at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University for 17 years. During that time he included patients on Radiology equipment installations and upgrades and other renovation projects. Dr. Rawson served as President of the Adult Medical Staff for three years. He served a four year term as a member of the CMS APC Advisory Panel where he chaired the CMS Sub-committee on Packaging. Currently, Dr. Rawson is serving as President for the Association of University Radiologists. He also serves as aBoard Member of the Board of Chancellors and serves as Secretary-Treasurer for theAmerican College of Radiology.He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American College of Radiologyand Academic Radiology. His primary research interest is health policy, process improvement and innovation.He currently serves as Vice Chair of Operations and Special Projects at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

  William Thorwarth, Jr., MD, FACR

Dr. Bill Thorwarth completed his undergraduate and medical school education at Dartmouth. After training in internal medicine he entered his radiology residency at the University of North Carolina. Since finishing training he had been a practicing diagnostic and interventional radiologist with Catawba Radiological Associates in Hickory, NC. During his nearly 30 years in practice, Dr. Thorwarth became active in a number of radiology and medical organizations. Serving at both the state and national levels in the ACR, he ascended to the ACR Board of Chancellors from 1998 to 2004, chairing the Commission on Economics and serving as President. In addition, he served the AMA as a member of the CPT Editorial Panel, which he chaired from 2007-2011. He was appointed to the RSNA R&E Foundation Board of Trustees and most recently elected to the RSNA Board of Directors, serving from 2009 until his recent selection to his current position as CEO of the ACR.
