A Push to Complete Radiology Physician Practice Information Surveys

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) encourages members who have not yet completed the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician Practice Information Survey (PPIS) to prioritize that effort.

The data collected by the PPI survey has not been updated in more than 15 years and will impact physician payment. At this time, radiology has about 20 completed practice surveys; however, we need more responses in order to accurately estimate radiology practice costs.

Please check your email inbox, spam and junk folders for an email from Mathematica, the AMA’s consultant on this project.

There are two survey components:

• Practice Survey – a longer, more comprehensive survey intended for practice managers or financial officers to complete, sent by ppisurvey@mathematica-mpr.com and with the subject line: “American Medical Association requests your input on physician practice expense and patient care hours.”

o If your practice received this survey, please encourage your physicians to complete their portion of the survey. If some of your physicians did not receive the physician survey, contact Mathematica and provide their email addresses to them.

• Physician Hours Survey – a brief survey intended for physicians of the selected practices sent by physicianhourssurvey@mathematica-mpr.com and with the subject line: “Please help to update accurate physician payments.”

o If you are a physician who has received a survey, please also reach out to your business manager or financial officer to ensure that they also received and completed the practice survey. If the appropriate contacts for your practice did not receive the practice survey, contact Mathematica to provide their names and email addresses.

If you would like to check whether your practice should have received the survey, contact Stephanie Le, ACR Director, Economics and Health Policy. The ACR can also assist in reaching out to the AMA or Mathematica with requests or inquiries.
